Hope R. Versluis, Executive Director

Since coming to Jericho Road in 2010, I’ve found that it is more than a workplace - it is where I get to share life with some amazing co-workers, committed volunteers and very courageous men in our recovery community. I think of myself as an idealist – someone who sees the potential in others. In that way, I embrace my name “Hope” because I hold on to the hope that God can and will restore all things. As the Executive Director of Jericho Road, I get to be part of God’s restorative plan to see every person affected by addiction and mental illness living in hope, healing & community.

Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Kevin Williams, Director of Addictions

Everything is possible with God. As hard as I’ve tried to live my life without him, it was fruitless and without meaning or purpose, a life run on self-will turns to chaos pretty quickly, not to mention the accompanying loneliness.

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. My old life is gone and my new life has begun. I don't know where God will lead me but I do know that it will be a life filled with laughter, purpose and meaning, a life where I can help others and they will help me and I can finally be the best father I can be for my son. I don't know what God has in store for me along this journey but I know it will be exciting and well worth living.

Amy Lauber, Director of Operations and 2nd Stage Program

My name is Amy Lauber and I’m the Director of Operations and 2nd Stage Program. My role includes supporting the men who have graduated from our Addiction Treatment Program and overseeing the operations (supplies, food, donations) for all of the Jericho Road homes. I am part of the Al Anon fellowship and find I get a lot of encouragement and guidance from following the program.

My favourite Bible verse is Jeremiah 30:15 “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”

It’s one of the verses I seem to go back to over and over, no matter what circumstance I am in. One of my life goals is to do more travelling and explore new places.

Matt Dagenais, House Supervisor

God rescued me in jail. After serving my sentence he led me to Jericho Road for the 9-month addictions recovery program. I volunteered for a year afterward and was offered a full-time position. I’ve been working with Jericho for over 4 years as a house supervisor in the same program I found recovery through. My passion is to encourage and counsel men through their recovery journey as they receive freedom from Christ Jesus. Through Jericho, God has shown me how to live an abundant life. To add to everything God has already done in my life, I met my wife through our church community and recently got married. Together, we are devoted to help people meet and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

My Life Verse: Matthew 6:33 NLT

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously and he will give you everything you need."

Shawn Haley, House Supervisor

I am the night house supervisor at Jericho Road Discipleship House. I spent many years trying to get clean and sober from drugs and alcohol on my own and went through numerous treatment centers with no success. It wasn't until I found Jesus Christ as my higher power and fully surrendered to a twelve step program that I was able to get any lengthy sobriety. In three years since, God has given me more than I could ever ask for.

One scripture I hold close to my heart is Luke 15: 4-7.

I am grateful that God never gave up on me. I feel a calling to go out and look for the one lost sheep so that all are safe. I have a strong passion to help people recover and bring Jesus to people.

  • Favourite Food: Dessert. Yep, pretty much any kind.

James Garlough, Second Stage Program Worker

I first came to Jericho Road as an intern in the summer of 2016. In December of 2018 I then started into the role of 2nd stage support worker. The connection to the guys and staff of Jericho had a great impact on me as an intern, so that I kept connected. I have joined in the CNOY walk, stopped in for coffee and visits. My role now at Jericho is to support our long term clients as well as help our graduates from the addiction program.

My Life verse is from Galatians 3:28 "There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus."

It allows me to step back and accept everyone no matter where they are from, where they are at emotionally or physically and what choices they made in the past.
