A pastor’s wife, social worker, teacher, mother and now grandmother, Hope and her husband, Michael Versluis, moved to Ottawa in 2009 to serve at Parkway Road Church. With the move came a change in ministry for Hope as she connected with Jericho Road Christian Ministries. Having helped to pioneer a Celebrate Recovery in Sudbury and having served as a Celebrate Recovery rep for Northern Ontario, Hope worked with Jericho Road to establish a Celebrate Recovery program in Ottawa in 2010. Then in November of 2010, Hope stepped into the role of Executive Director of Jericho Road Christian Ministries.

“At Jericho Road, we do life in community. I find my life enriched and deepened as I travel with the staff and residents on this journey of God’s grace.” – Hope R. Versluis

Scripture: 1 John 4:17-19  – As we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear…We love each other because he loved us first.”

Kevin, who now serves as Director of Addictions, came to Jericho Road out of desperation, crying out to God to start a new life of sobriety and freedom in Christ where he began the 9 month addiction treatment program at the Discipleship House. Learning through classes that included anger management, inner healing, living in recovery, weekly AA meetings and one on one counselling, Kevin completed the program and moved into Jericho Road’s second stage housing. The staff at Jericho Road could see his potential and giftings.  Several months later, Kevin accepted a position at Jericho Road and has been able to care for others and become a part of a community that reaches out to those in need.

“God has appointed me to go and produce lasting relationships, to live in fellowship and He will give me whatever I need to do so. I have been blessed by knocking on the door and asking for God’s help.” – Kevin Williams

Kevin’s life verse:  Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
